The school said multiple warnings were issued before the tents were removed and the crowd was dispersed.

In its statement, Brooklyn College condemned the violence and emphasized its commitment to campus safety.

“The safety of our campus community will always be paramount, and Brooklyn College respects the right to protest while also adhering to strict rules meant to ensure the safe operation of our university and prohibit individuals from impeding access to educational facilities,” the statement read.

The Brooklyn demonstration came one day after a similar pro-Palestinian protest at Columbia University in Manhattan, where more than 80 people were arrested after demonstrators stormed Butler Library.

In that incident, dozens of mask-clad protesters pushed past campus security, hung Palestinian flags and banners and defaced framed photos inside an ornate reading room.

The NYPD entered the building and removed the demonstrators after the university said they had refused repeated requests to leave.
